Course Description

GEOG 1101 Physical Geography
(Check CNM Class Schedule for current times and locations)
Note: This course may be taught as an Online / Distance Learning course. (Course Section: 52)

The Official Description:
This course is an introduction to physical geography with emphasis on the physical environment of the Earth and the processes that create and maintain them. A systematic approach to understanding the interactions between the Earth’s atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere is used to provide a framework for the understanding of the physical world within which we live.

The Unofficial Description:
Physical Geography studies maps, weather, climate, disasters, mountains, volcanoes, energy, water supplies, distribution of plants and animals... You name it. If it is under the sun, it is covered in this course.

Not only that, but if you live in New Mexico, then you should take this course. Why? Because almost everything we learn in this class applies right here, in our home state. So, if you want to know why the Sandia Mountains look the way they do, what is going on with the Rio Grande River and our water supply, and what El Niño / La Niña means for our weather and climate, then this course is for you.
